How many zones did Nepal have?
Nepal formerly had 14 administrative zones and 5 development regions. These were abolished by the 2015 constitution, which replaced them with the current 7 provinces and 77 districts. The old zones are now historical.
The 14 zones (e.g. Bagmati, Gandaki, Koshi, Lumbini) gave their names to several of today's provinces and rivers.
