Nepal government service fee lookup
What a passport, citizenship certificate, PAN registration or driving licence actually costs, each figure rated by how well it's sourced.
Passport fees below are read directly off the Department of Passports' own fee page. Citizenship, PAN and driving-licence figures rest on secondary sources and are marked accordingly, they are not treated as equally certain, and anything that couldn't be pinned down at all is shown as not confirmed rather than guessed.

| Passport | Correction of a passport-office error Free of charge, when the mistake being corrected was the passport office's own error rather than the applicant's. | Free | Confirmed |
| Passport | Fast-track / urgent passport processing Not confirmed. Secondary sources describe a faster same-day or next-day service costing roughly Rs 12,000-20,000 (sometimes quoted as the full fee at that speed, sometimes as a surcharge on top of the normal fee), but the Department of Passports' own fee table fetched for this page lists only speed-independent New/Renewal figures with no separate fast-track column, so this could not be reconciled or confirmed. Ask at the Department of Passports counter in Kathmandu (fast-track is reportedly not offered at district offices) before assuming a price. | Not confirmed | Not independently verified |
| Citizenship | First (new) citizenship certificate Government revenue-ticket fee for a first-time citizenship certificate, same-day per the charter when evidence and verification are complete. | Rs 10 | Reported by one source |
| Citizenship | Duplicate citizenship certificate Government revenue-ticket fee for a duplicate copy, when the prescribed recommendation, photos and old record are available. | Rs 13 | Reported by one source |
| PAN | PAN registration (individual or business) No government fee for first-time PAN registration, whether done online, via the Nagarik app, or in person at an Inland Revenue Office. | Free | Reported by one source |

| Driving licence | Smart driving licence, category B (car / jeep / van) Licence issuance/renewal fee for light four-wheelers, before the separate application/exam, biometric and card-printing charges. | Rs 2,000 | Reported by one source |
| Driving licence | Smart driving licence, minibus / mini-truck category Licence issuance/renewal fee for minibus/mini-truck category vehicles. | Rs 2,500 | Reported by one source |
| Driving licence | Smart driving licence, heavy vehicle category Licence issuance/renewal fee for heavy vehicles (bus, truck). | Rs 3,000 | Reported by one source |
“Not confirmed” means no rupee figure could be safely pinned down from a government or well-corroborated source; do not assume it is free. Fees marked Reported by one source and Not independently verified are exactly that, not treated as certain. Always confirm the amount actually payable with the issuing office before paying.
Every fee is rated by how it was sourced
Government fee schedules change with little notice and are inconsistently published online, so each row here is tagged rather than presented as uniformly certain.
Confirmed
Read directly off an official government fee page fetched for this research. Currently that's the Department of Passports' own passport fee table.
Reported by one source
Only found in secondary guides (sometimes themselves citing an official charter this tool could not fetch), not independently re-verified against a government page.
Not confirmed
No rupee figure could be safely pinned down at all. Shown as "Not confirmed" rather than a guessed amount, check with the issuing office directly.
Government service fees, answered
How much does a Nepali passport cost?+
Per the Department of Passports' own fee page, a standard 34-page e-passport (new issue or renewal, adult) is Rs 12,000 and the larger 66-page version is Rs 20,000. A child under 10 pays Rs 9,500 (34-page) or Rs 14,500 (66-page). Replacing a lost or damaged passport costs more: Rs 17,000 (34-page, adult) or Rs 25,000 (66-page, adult). Correcting an error that was the passport office's own mistake is free.
Is there a separate fast-track passport fee?+
Not confirmed here. Several secondary write-ups describe a faster same-day or next-day service costing roughly Rs 12,000 to 20,000, on top of or instead of the normal fee, but the Department of Passports' own fee table lists only speed-independent New/Renewal figures with no separate fast-track column, so that mapping could not be verified. Ask at the Department of Passports counter in Kathmandu before assuming a price; fast-track is reportedly not offered at district offices at all.
How much does a citizenship certificate cost?+
Kathmandu District Administration Office's own citizen charter is reported (by a secondary source, not fetched directly here) as charging a Rs 10 revenue-ticket fee for a first citizenship certificate and Rs 13 for a duplicate copy, excluding any local ward recommendation fee or photocopy costs. This is tagged as reported, not confirmed, and other districts' DAOs may charge differently, confirm with your own DAO.
Is PAN registration free in Nepal?+
Multiple independent guides to the Inland Revenue Department's process consistently state that first-time PAN registration, whether online, via the Nagarik app, or in person at an Inland Revenue Office, carries no government fee. This tool could not fetch IRD's own registration page directly to upgrade that to "confirmed", but it is not a figure invented here either.
How much does a driving licence cost?+
Secondary guides to the Department of Transport Management's process consistently describe category-based smart-licence fees: roughly Rs 1,500 for motorcycles/scooters, Rs 2,000 for cars/jeeps/vans, Rs 2,500 for minibus/mini-truck categories and Rs 3,000 for heavy vehicles, before separate application/written-exam, biometric and card-printing charges that vary too much across sources to state as single figures. No official DOTM fee-schedule page could be located to confirm these, so treat them as reported estimates.
Sources & data note
Fee figures marked "Confirmed" were read directly off an official government fee page fetched for this research (currently: the Department of Passports' own passport fee table). Figures marked "Reported by one source" come only from secondary guides, sometimes themselves citing an official charter this tool could not fetch directly, and could not be independently re-verified. Where no rupee figure could be safely confirmed at all, the fee is shown as not confirmed rather than guessed. Government fees change with little notice; always confirm the actual amount payable with the issuing office (Department of Passports, your District Administration Office, your Inland Revenue Office, or the Department of Transport Management) before paying.
