Loksewa age limits, answered
What is the age limit for Loksewa in Nepal?+
Under the Civil Service Act 2049, the minimum age is 18 for non-gazetted (classless) posts and 21 for gazetted officer posts. The maximum age is 35 for general male candidates, 40 for women and for reserved-group candidates (Dalit, Janajati, Madhesi, persons with disability, backward region), and 45 for gazetted 1st and 2nd class posts. Age is counted on the application closing date.
Does the women's age extension stack with the reserved-group extension?+
No. The +5-year extension for reserved groups does not stack with the women's extension. A woman who also belongs to a reserved group still has a maximum of 40 — not 45 — under the Civil Service Act 2049.
Is there an age limit for serving permanent civil servants?+
No. Permanent serving civil servants have no upper age bar under the Act — the maximum-age requirement is waived for them. The minimum-age requirement for the post still applies.
On which date is my age calculated for Loksewa?+
Your age is reckoned on the application closing date of the vacancy (the last date to apply), not on the exam date or the date you submit your form. This calculator computes your exact age on the closing date and checks it against the minimum and maximum.
Will the new Federal Civil Service Bill change the age limits?+
The proposed Federal Civil Service Bill 2082 — which would adjust entry ages and raise the retirement age to 60 — is not yet law as of June 2026. Until it is enacted, the Civil Service Act 2049 limits apply. Always confirm against the specific Lok Sewa Aayog vacancy notice, which can set its own conditions.
What is the minimum age to apply for Kharidar or Nayab Subba?+
Both are non-gazetted posts, so the minimum age is 18 years on the closing date. The maximum age depends on your category: 35 for general male, and 40 for women and reserved-group candidates.
Sources & data note
Age limits are from the Civil Service Act 2049 (1993), Section 10, the current law as of June 2026. Minimum 18 (non-gazetted) / 21 (gazetted officer); maximum 35 (general male), 40 (women and reserved groups — Dalit, Janajati, Madhesi, disability, backward region — the +5 does not stack with the women's extension), 45 (gazetted 1st & 2nd class); no upper limit for permanent serving civil servants. Age is reckoned on the application closing date. The proposed Federal Civil Service Bill 2082 is not yet law; individual vacancy notices can vary, so confirm against the official advertisement.
