How much does an average wedding cost in Nepal?+
There is no published, Nepal-wide wedding-cost survey to point to, and costs vary enormously by city, venue, guest count and how much of the day is outsourced to vendors versus handled by family. A wedding in Kathmandu with a hotel banquet hall costs very differently from a village wedding with a rented community hall. Treat this calculator as a planning starting point you tune to your own quotes, not a market benchmark.
What's usually the biggest cost?+
For most guest-count ranges, catering is the single largest line item because it scales directly with headcount, followed by the venue, which also scales per guest at mid-range and premium tiers. Decor and photography are typically flat costs regardless of guest count, so their share of the total shrinks as the guest list grows.
How do I reduce wedding costs without cutting corners?+
The guest count has the largest leverage, since venue and catering both scale per head, trimming the list by even 10-15% often saves more than negotiating any single vendor. Choosing an off-season date or a weekday can lower venue rates, and a mixed veg/non-veg menu is usually cheaper per plate than an all non-veg spread. Getting written quotes from at least two or three vendors per category before booking is the most reliable way to avoid overpaying.

No. This calculator's scope is deliberately limited to venue, catering, decor and photography/videography. It does not estimate jewellery, wedding outfits, a honeymoon, priest and ritual costs beyond what the miscellaneous buffer covers, or guest travel and accommodation, budget for those separately.
