How many 8,000 m peaks are in Nepal?
Nepal has 8 of the world's 14 eight-thousanders (peaks above 8,000 m): Everest, Kanchenjunga, Lhotse, Makalu, Cho Oyu, Dhaulagiri, Manaslu and Annapurna I. Several straddle the border with Tibet (China).
Annapurna I, first climbed in 1950, was the first eight-thousander ever summited; it also has one of the highest fatality rates.
