An indicative estimate, computed entirely in your browser using the published NEPSE/SEBON buy-side slab: brokerage commission of 0.36% up to Rs 50,000, 0.33% up to Rs 500,000, 0.31% up to Rs 2,000,000, 0.27% up to Rs 10,000,000 and 0.24% above that (Rs 10 minimum per transaction), plus a 0.015% SEBON fee and a flat Rs 25 DP charge on every tranche. Actual broker commission and fees can vary slightly, confirm the current circular before relying on a figure.
From each buy tranche to one WACC
Every tranche carries its own transaction cost. WACC blends all of them into a single, true cost per share.
Per-tranche cost
Each row's total cost = (price × quantity) + brokerage + SEBON fee (0.015%) + a flat Rs 25 DP charge.
Sliding brokerage
Brokerage is 0.36% up to Rs 50,000, stepping down to 0.33%, 0.31%, 0.27% and 0.24% as the tranche value rises (Rs 10 minimum).
Weighted average
WACC = Σ(total cost per tranche) ÷ Σ(quantity), your true break-even price per share across all buys.
NEPSE WACC, answered
Why is my WACC higher than the simple average of my buy prices?+
The simple average only looks at the price you paid per share. WACC (weighted-average cost) also rolls in every rupee of brokerage commission, the SEBON fee and the DP charge from each buy, then divides by total shares. Since those charges only add cost, your true break-even (WACC) is always a little above the plain average price, especially for smaller tranches where fees are a bigger share of the trade.
What is the DP charge and why is it flat?+
The DP (depository participant) charge is a fixed fee, commonly Rs 25, levied once per settlement transaction for crediting shares to your Demat account through CDSC. It does not scale with the transaction value or number of shares, so a small tranche of 10 shares pays the same Rs 25 as a tranche of 10,000 shares, which is why splitting one purchase into many small tranches raises your effective cost per share.
How is the brokerage slab chosen, per transaction or cumulative?+
Each buy order (a single transaction slip) is assessed against the slab on its own value, price × quantity for that tranche, not your cumulative holding or the total you have invested over time. A Rs 40,000 tranche and a Rs 40,000 slice of a larger day's trading pay the same 0.36% rate; the slab only steps down once a single transaction itself crosses each threshold.
What counts as a separate tranche?+
Any distinct buy order, a different day, a different price, or a separate broker contract note/slip, counts as its own tranche with its own brokerage, SEBON fee and DP charge. If you bought the same script on three different days at three different prices, enter three rows even if the total quantity ends up the same as buying it all at once.
Does this include selling costs or capital gains tax?+
No. This calculator only covers the buy side, working out your all-in cost basis (WACC) across multiple purchases. For the sell side, brokerage, SEBON fee, DP charge on the sale and capital gains tax, use the NEPSE Share Profit Calculator, which takes this WACC as your effective buy price.
Are the brokerage and fee rates always these figures?+
The bands used here, 0.36%, 0.33%, 0.31%, 0.27% and 0.24% by transaction value, the 0.015% SEBON fee and the Rs 25 DP charge, follow the commission structure that Nepali stockbrokers commonly publish, the same slab used by the NEPSE Share Profit Calculator on this site. SEBON and NEPSE periodically revise these figures by circular, so treat this as an indicative planning tool and confirm the exact current rate with your broker before relying on it.
