What is the likhit (written) exam for a Nepali driving licence?+
It is the multiple-choice written test run by the Department of Transport Management (DoTM) that you must pass after applying and completing biometrics, and before the practical (trial) test. It checks your knowledge of traffic signs, road rules, right of way, vehicle documents and basic first aid.
Is this the official likhit exam?+
No. This is a free practice/mock test to help you study. The real exam is conducted by the DoTM in Nepali and its exact questions, format and pass mark can change — always prepare with the official material and confirm current details at dotm.gov.np.
What score do I need to pass?+
The DoTM sets the official pass mark. This tool uses 60% as a study benchmark so you can gauge your readiness, but you should confirm the current official pass mark and number of questions for your licence category.
What topics does the practice test cover?+
Traffic signs, road rules, right of way, vehicle and documents, basic first aid, and penalties — the same areas the DoTM written exam draws from.
The real exam is in Nepali — why is this in English?+
The practice questions are written in English (with key Nepali terms) so the rules are easy to understand. Make sure you also learn the Nepali wording, since the official exam is in Nepali.
How do I apply for the licence and sit the likhit exam?+
