CTC to in-hand salary calculator
Convert an annual CTC (cost to company) offer into your real monthly take-home, or flip it around and work out the CTC you would need to negotiate for a target take-home.
See the full waterfall from CTC down to net pay, the employer's SSF/EPF contribution removed, then yours, then income tax, on Nepal's FY 2083/84 tax slabs. An indicative tool, computed entirely in your browser.
CTC & take-home
Your full annual package, including the employer's SSF/EPF contribution.
SSF/EPF contributions are levied on basic salary, not the full CTC. Many Nepali structures set basic near 50% of CTC, adjust to match your offer letter.
SSF: employer 20% + employee 11% of basic salary. SSF membership also waives the 1% Social Security Tax band.

An indicative estimate for FY 2083/84 (2026/27). Income tax uses the same FY 2083/84 slab engine as the salary calculator, applying the SSF 1% Social Security Tax waiver where relevant. Basic salary is assumed to be 50% of CTC, adjust to match your offer letter. It does not model every allowance, insurance, or festival bonus, and is not an official payroll computation.
From CTC down to what actually lands in your account
CTC includes costs you never see in hand. Each step below removes one of them.
Employer contribution
Basic salary (a share of CTC) × the employer's SSF (20%) or EPF (10%) rate is subtracted from CTC to give gross salary, it was never yours to begin with.
Employee contribution & tax
Your own SSF (11%) or EPF (10%) contribution on basic comes off gross, then income tax is computed on what remains, using the FY 2083/84 slab engine.
Reverse mode: bisection
To go from a target take-home back to CTC, the calculator repeatedly tests candidate CTCs through the same forward steps and narrows in until they match.
CTC and take-home, answered
Why is CTC not the same as my gross or take-home salary?+
CTC (cost to company) is the employer's total annual cost of employing you, it includes the employer's own SSF or EPF contribution, which never reaches your bank account. Gross salary is CTC minus that employer contribution. Take-home is gross minus your own (employee) SSF/EPF contribution and income tax. The three numbers are always CTC ≥ gross ≥ take-home.
Should I choose SSF or EPF?+
Pick whichever scheme your employer actually registers you under, most newer private-sector employers use the Social Security Fund (SSF: employer 20% + employee 11% of basic), while some older or public-sector employers still use the Employees Provident Fund (EPF: employer 10% + employee 10% of basic). The two are mutually exclusive for a given job, check your offer letter or payslip.
Does the festival (Dashain) bonus count towards CTC or take-home?+
No, festival bonus is out of scope for this calculator. Nepali law entitles most employees to a Dashain allowance of one month's basic salary, paid separately from the regular monthly payroll this tool models. Some employers fold an estimate of it into a headline CTC figure, if yours does, subtract it before entering your CTC here for an accurate monthly figure.
How is the required CTC found in reverse mode?+
There is no simple closed-form formula from take-home back to CTC, because income tax is a progressive, banded calculation. Instead, the calculator searches for it: it repeatedly tries a candidate CTC, runs it through the same forward calculation, and narrows the range (bisection) until the resulting take-home matches your target to a fraction of a rupee.
What basic-salary percentage should I use?+
SSF/EPF contributions and several allowances are legally calculated on basic salary, not gross or CTC, so the split matters. Many Nepali pay structures set basic near 50% of CTC, but this varies by employer. Check your offer letter or payslip for the exact figure and adjust the field above to match.

Employer/employee contribution rates from the Contribution-Based Social Security Act 2074 (SSF) and the Employees Provident Fund Act 2019 (EPF). Income tax uses the FY 2083/84 slab engine shared with the salary and income-tax calculators. Figures are indicative and exclude allowances, insurance and festival bonus, confirm the exact split with your employer's payroll team.
