NEB grade sheets report GPA + letter grades; there is no official percentage. A GPA is a position on a grade scale, not a stored percentage, so any conversion is an approximation. Where a body, employer or foreign university needs a percentage, ask the issuing institution for its accepted method — many simply multiply GPA by 25 (4.0 → 100%), which gives a different and equally unofficial figure.

Is there an official GPA to percentage formula in Nepal?+
No. Neither the National Examinations Board (NEB) nor Tribhuvan University (TU) publishes an official formula to convert a GPA into a percentage. Both report results as a grade point average with letter grades. Any conversion you see — including this one — is an unofficial approximation, and different institutions use different methods.
How does this converter estimate a percentage?+
It reads off the percentage band that your letter grade conventionally represents. For example, on the NEB scale a GPA of 3.6–4.0 corresponds to an A+ grade, which is usually described as 90–100%. The tool returns that range and a mid-point — it does not compute an exact percentage, because the underlying data does not contain one.
Why do I sometimes see 'multiply GPA by 25'?+
A common shortcut multiplies a 4.0-scale GPA by 25 so that 4.0 maps to 100% and 3.2 maps to 80%. It is simple but arbitrary, and gives a higher number than the grade-band method for most mid-range GPAs. Some foreign universities and employers accept it; others do not. Always check what the receiving institution wants before using any single figure.
What scale do NEB and TU use?+
NEB grade sheets for Grade 11 and 12 use a letter-grading system on a 4.0 scale (A+, A, B+, B, C+, C, D, E). TU's semester programmes also use letter grades on a 4.0 scale (A, A−, B+, B and so on). This tool lets you pick whichever applies to your transcript.
Can I use this percentage on a university or job application?+
Treat it as indicative only. For an application that requires a percentage, the safest route is to ask your college, NEB, TU or the receiving institution for the conversion method they accept, or submit your original grade sheet showing the GPA and letter grades. An unofficial figure can be rejected.
My GPA falls exactly on a band boundary — which grade applies?+
Boundaries are inclusive at the top of each band, so a GPA exactly on a boundary is read into the higher band. Because the conversion is approximate, a value sitting right on a boundary should be interpreted with extra caution; consult your grade sheet for the actual letter grade awarded.
